Academic Program

To meet the needs of our diverse learners and to respond to the new blended learning model, teachers will increase the variety of synchronous and asynchronous teaching strategies used in their in-person and remote classrooms. Teachers will continue to differentiate for the needs of individual students or groups of students by varying the content, the way content is delivered, the learning environment (remote or in-person), or the product that students are expected to produce, while meeting students at their current level and addressing learning gaps that may have emerged from last year.

Across all grades, teachers are encouraged to help students make connections across content areas. Science and Social Studies should support literacy and math practices. Math should include opportunities for students to discuss and write about their strategies. Students are encouraged to explore and inquire about the subjects they are learning, while working through a challenging curriculum that aligns with NYS Learning Standards. Assessments are used throughout lessons to determine student levels and adjust instructional supports; periodic assessments in literacy and math provide additional data at key points during the year to determine progress on benchmarks.

Additionally, all students participate in a social emotional curriculum that highlights character traits, introduces self-regulation, and celebrates diversity.

On the following pages, you can learn more about our curriculum and instruction at each grade level, enrichment programs, and our social emotional program.
