PRE-SCHOOL
Our 3-K PROGRAM is grounded in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework. Our teachers use the NYC Explorations units, which invites engagement in intensive, in-depth, play-based learning across domains. There are three Exploration Units; teachers should provide additional details to parents about the units, skills, and topics that will be selected for this year.

PRE-K continues to build on the routines and explorations from 3-K. Pre-K curriculum includes the NYC Interdisciplinary Units of Study (https://infohub.nyced.org/docs/default-source/default-document-library/pre-k-units-of-study-scope-and-sequence.pdf) that are based on scientific research, developmentally appropriate, and align to the Head Start Early Learning Frameworks. Play-based learning builds meaningful school and life skills, and includes time for free play as well as guided play. In addition, in pre-K, students are offered more choices to help build a sense of control and autonomy, while also beginning to understand how to interact with peers. There are several units of study available to select from. The list of available units include:
Unit 1: Welcome to Pre-K
Unit 2: My Five Senses
Unit 3: All About Us
Unit 4: Where We Live
Unit 5: Transportation
Unit 6: Light
Unit 7: Water
Unit 8: Plants
Unit 9: Babies
Unit 10: Transformation
